Ow to cature timecode coming from non-controlled device. help please.
I'm capturing DV from a Sony DSR 450 DVCM via firwire (obviously) onto a Macbook Pro using FCP2. I'm capturing as a non-controlled device, video and audio are OK, but not getting the timecode from the camera whether its free or record run. Don't see why I shouldn't. Anyone got any ideas?

Our general advice on that is not to depend on the live capture. There are so many things that can go wrong during a live event and most amateurs are not prepared to cope with any of them. Least you can do is hook up a UPS. We wish you luck. This is not something I would do. I trust tape far more than I trust my Macintosh to capture a live feed flawlessly. However, we have many users around the forum who do this "all the time."

Yes, it's there but you're telling FCP to ignore it. But you know what? There will be timecode on your clip. It will start at 000000 when you start the capture.
