Repeatable crash..can i do what I am attempting in another way
I am trying to select a block of columns, excluding the first row header cells.
Here is what I am doing.
Click first column letter and then Shift click the last column letter of the block I want.
I then try CMD clicking the Row 1 Cells in each column to de select them.
Row 1 is a header row.
The first column row 1 cell de selects, but as soon as I click the row 1 cell in the second column, the spinning beach ball of death appears and the app is frozen, and the only way out is a Force Quit.
Repaly
How many rows in your table ?
Header column(s) is(are) a powerful brake. So,if the table is large, the app may become busy for a LONG time making unaware users think that the app crashed.
This is why I wrote many times : open "Activity monitor" before applying force quit.
If Numbers is flagged as "doesn't respond" but the processor usage changes, the app is not 'dead'. It's just very busy.
I got this behavior with Numbers, Pages, Script Editor, Finder…
I feel that the status reported is too conservative describing apps as "not responding" when they are just heavily busy.
